Just in time for the festive season, not by plan it has to be said, fortune possibly. Recording started in June and so 5 and bit months is not too bad for a new album. :: Upcoming gigs see the Trio return for some winter power trio action at Matt and Phreds in Manchester (www.mattandphreds.com) That is on Wednesday 7th December. As they are lucky enough to get to play 3 sets, the 2nd set will see the new abum being played from start to finish, something that they haven't been able to do before so its new for them and a new thing for you!
:: That is then followed by the trio playing at the soon to be extended and refurbished Strays Coffee Shop in Newark, (Strays Jazz). By all accounts its looking pretty swish so get down on the 10th and hear the trio and see for yourselves.

:: After 3 solo/duo gigs so far this month, time for the trio to come out and play. This Thursday, the 17th, will see the trio appear at Jim's Acoustic Cafe in Colne, Lancashire (Jims acoustic cafe). The night will also see an appearance of the sublime River Man (www.myspace.com/rivermansounds). Entry is £3 on the door.
:: Following that on the 19th, Neil C. Young will once again be returning to the fabulous Strays Coffee Shop in Newark for some more Bossa and Tapas action. (Strays Jazz)

:: Upcoming gigs for the diary include a full range of NCY. Friday 4th and 19th will see gigs with both Duo and Solo sets at Strays Tapas night in Newark (Strays Jazz). That is followed on Tuesday 8th by more Tapas at The Sparrow Hawk in Fence with the Duo in action (the Sparrowhawk).
:: Then on Thursday 10th sees a special event, a solo performance by Neil C. Young at Poppies Tea Room, Kirk Gate, Settle, N.Yorkshire. It will be the first in what will hopefully will turn out to be a successful concert series at the tea rooms. Admission is £7 and will include refreshments more info at (Settle Music).
:: Following that will see the Trio return to Jims Acoustic Cafe, Colne on Thursday 17th November. This gig will also feature the marvellous 'River Man' in support (www.myspace.com/rivermansounds). This will be a definately more raucous to do in contrast to the relaxing and laid back atmospheres of the earlier gigs of the month.
:: Album news, by next week there will be pre release copies available. So if you are at any of the gigs you willl be able to get yours. There is no official release date as yet, but in all honesty we don't really need one, every gig is a party , well, nearly all.

:: Breaking news, Neil C. Young has been nominated for a Grammy!
::Neil C. Young is now a Grammy nominated Guitarist. Very cool!. It is in the improvised jazz solo category for the track 'Driving to Montenegro' from the album (Where's yours?). Great news as you will agree. Neil was nominated by his US label/distributor Canadian American Records and the results will be announced at the awards ceremony in February 2012. Any further developments will be announced here, so fingers crossed for then!
:: The new album'El Camino', is due out very soon indeed, but unfortunately it has been slightly delayed but if you go to the recording pages here (Recordings), further information is given. Also, the first single will be available to download as well so keep an eye for that.

:: September has rolled by quickly this year, new album finishing off nicely, not long now before its completion. That's for another day mind. Gigs coming up are...

:: The following Friday, the 23rd, Neil C. Young will be playing solo at Strays, Newark as part of the sublime Tapas night more info at (Strays Coffee).
:: Finally, on Sunday 25th Sept. The trio will be out in force at the Lancaster Jazz Festival. They will be appearing at the Gregson Centre, from 8pm. Although the Gregson will be running bands all afternoon into the evening. The Festival will be taking in other venues across the city across the week. More at (Lancaster Jazz Festival 2011). 4th Festival this year for the trio, not bad, but lets hope next year sees more!

:: Unfortunately, the gig at the Glebe, Bowness with D.C. Dansette on Sunday 28th August has had to be cancelled. We will be trying to organise something for later on in the year so keep your eyes posted.
::The trio will be at Jim's Acoustic Cafe, Colne on Monday 29th from 9pm. Part of the goings on at the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival. That will be the final gig for this month. ::And to the month of August. First up gigs this month are: Tuesday 9th at The Sparrow Hawk, Fence, the duo of Neil C. Young and Richard Young will be playing at their Tapas evening from 7.30 pm and on Sunday 21st, from 5.30pm, the quartet will be returning to the Sparrowhawk for a sunday evening gig, 'Jazz on a summers evening' with Chris 'The Hive' Pearson on Tenor Saxophone along with the trio. more info on these events at (the Sparrowhawk).
::Next up on Sunday 28th is a special event. An afternoon of music at Bowness in Lake District. Appearing along with the Trio will be the fabulous Orchestre D.C. Dansette. They will both be performing through the afternoon at this one off event, it will be taking place on the bandstand by the lake so should be a fantastic late summers occasion especially as it is a public event. ::The following day, the trio will be appearing at Jims Acoustic Cafe in Colne, as part of the towns Rhythm and Blues Festival. The show will begin at 9pm and should be a right rockin' affair to end the bank holiday weekend. More info will follow also but for now you could visit (Jims acoustic cafe).
::The new trio album has a title. 'El Camino' named after the Car. Keep an eye out for the new cover which will be starting to appear over the coming weeks in anticipation of its release. Along with the trio recording, the duo has just started to record an EP. After a years semi residence at Strays, they are recording the arrangements that have been developed and are favourites with themselves and the audiences alike. These will be up for listening purposes soon.

::After a long weekend of trio gigs, a few days before more action, Friday at The Stonewell Tavern, Lancaster. 9.30pm, featuring very special guest on Drum Kit, Mr Ben McCabe. ::New gigs for this month are:- Strays Coffee Shop in Newark with the duo on the 9th and on the 22nd Neil C. Young will be performing solo as part of the 1st birthday celebrations of the Tapas y Strays nights, more info about the weekend can be found at (Strays Coffee).
::On Thursday 21st July the trio will be playing new tracks from the album of which they have been recording over the past month at The Bridge Bierhuis, Burnley, from 9pm. (www.bridgebierhuis.co.uk). This starts a 3 gig mini tour of Lancashire, followed by the Manchester Jazz Festival which the trio will be appearing at on Monday 25th July at the festival pavilion in Albert Square from 11.45. ::Recording update. The new album will unfortunately not be finished by the end of July as hoped, but hopefully the end of August will see its release. :: March is approaching and so are a few more gigs for the diary. 1stly on Saturday March 12th, Neil C. Young will be performing with Ben Kearsley at the St. Peters Saturday morning concert series in Burnley. This will be a recital of acoustic guitar music, Ben is a superb classical guitarist from Edinburgh and the mornings music will be a combination of classical and of latin music. We are releasing 2 new singles on our MIDEM World Wide Radio CD sampler early in January. :: Last Saturday saw Neil C. Young appear for the first time at the Strays Jazz y Tapas night. It is a new series of weekend events involving a night of live jazz and tapas. Neil was joined with drummer Ian Beestin and it was a 'right good laugh!'. There are other dates as at this event the next one being the 28th August followed by the 10th September.

:: Its been a busy past few months here, various shows and dealings have been taking place. Firstly, back in May, Neil C. Young performed at the Romerias de Mayo Festival in Holguin, Cuba. A fantastic week, wonderful shows, places and people. Pictures are in the gallery of Neil C. Young's pages here. There was a short diary of the week at twitter, myspace, facebook, so if you missed it you can have a read through those sites. There will soon be travelogue of the trip to be posted here soon. Muchos gracias to the wonderful Virginia Dania Vivar Leyva and to Ruben Reyes Font for his assistance throughout the week, and now interpreter to the artists/tv star supreme!
:: On returning from Cuba, the trio went down to Newark and performed at the very cool festival there. Many thanks to all involved, Paul, Mat and Nathan and Strays for having the Trio down. You can get more info on this festival at www.newarkjazz.co.uk.
:: There has been some developments with the new album Where's yours?. We are very pleased to announce that Ence Records are to be working alongside WOA Records in India. They are to distribute the album throughout India. Release date is the 20th July across India. This follows a successful single release back in the autumn of 'The Stockton 3' and was followed by the Christmas single of 'Silent Night' which also enjoyed festive success.
:: There will be some further news regarding the album Where's yours? to follow soon along with the 2nd single to be released.
:: Over the coming months the Neil C. Young Trio will be recording both a record of the arrangements they have developed over the past few years of tracks such as Cole Porter's 'Night and Day' and Marvin Gaye's 'What's going on?'. Plans for the new year could well see a solo guitar record and of course a new recording with trio which also maybe will include a standards recording as well as new material. There are tentative plans for a series of collaborations with some of the artists Neil C. Young has worked with over the years, to create a a record of songs using their influences and styles with the instrumental jazz influences.

:: A christmas cover is being recorded for WOA Records, the Indian company who took 'Next' from 'Chick(pea) Soup' and took it to, at the last count, no.2 in the Indian Album charts. Keep posted for when and where this will be available.
